New gay bar?

asked this question on Friday at 9 pm.

I’ve been hearing some rumblings on FB that Headquarters is going to be turning into a gay bar. Does anyone have any more concrete information about this?

I’m curious, how does a bar turn into a “gay bar” ? What changes does it make?

Wow, two thumbs down for asking a simple question. I don’t know if people took it the wrong way or not, but it was just that, a simple question.

It would be nice if bars could be generally assumed to be lgbtq friendly and not have to designate themselves as such. I guess a gay bar is a bar owned and or frequented by gays. I once stayed at a bed and breakfast owned by a gay person, but I don’t think there is a marketing strategy in place for gay BnBs

Creating a space for gay people to meet makes it a gay bar. If you’re straight you can just assume the majority of people you meet might be a potential mate, whereas if you’re gay you have an obstacle of figuring out who the tiny minority of people that may also be gay are. When you figure that out you then have to narrow down the tiny pool of people into those who you find attractive.

Its not about gay people not being welcome in other bars, its about having a space where you can assume most people are like-minded and more easily find a potential mate. Also not having the fear of getting a beatdown if someone is offended that you assumed they were gay too.

HQ is shutting down and will be reopening as a gay bar. Claiming the venue as LGBTQ friendly space is the change it will make.

I certainly hope it will be a better venue than that dive forever known as 216 water Street!

It won’t be ran by the owners of the late Zone 216
