Looking to do beginner dance classes for fun. Any suggestions on a dance school that doesn’t specialize in cliqueyness?

asked this question on Wednesday at 2 pm.

I’ve asked and inquired around and haven’t really got a satisfactory answer about many dance schools. Most seem to be labled as cliquey. I want to have fun and get fit and not deal with snotty attitudes and drama. Anyone out there have a good, non-biased impression of a dance school in this city??

I went to the Connie Parsons School of Dance for a semester: I thought it was good and non- cliquey

I go to Wild Lily on Duckworth Street. The classes there are a lot of fun, with a good crowd very chatty / friendly people. Fun instructors too.

I go to Wild Lily too! I love it! I just started doing the belly dancing, it’s a lot of fun and a laugh!

Wild Lily, definitely! I’ve danced at a number of dance schools around town, and most are big-time cliquey and judgmental. Wild Lily is the opposite of this, you’ll love it!

Do NOT go to CPSD. Cliquey all the way and so not worth it. I suggest MAX or The Dance Centre. Both have some really lovely ladies. And I know MPSD gets a lot of praise but I can’t get past the couple of teachers who are completely overweight. Clearly, they don’t care that much about their own fitness, so they probably won’t be much help for yours. Also, a friend of mine says they’re quite snobby over there and have overheard some of the teachers making fun of their own students and their dancing skills, or lack there of. If it’s true, you can add being unprofessional to their list of cons. Fusion is suppose to be great as well!
