As Alex walked towards me last week, immediately I thought of the words “honest” & “rugged”. This guy exudes confidence. His look is really down to earth and he has that assured but aloof rock-star quality.
When I asked him where he gets his style inspiration from, it validated my initial reaction to hear him say it comes from a mix of Newfoundland fishing culture and the grunge era of music he grew up with. Turns out he and other members of his family worked in the fishery at one time. In our wacky, wired up, tuned in world it’s pretty refreshing to see the effect of a real local influence on local fashion.
Plaid has never completely faded from sight round our way, but in recent years it’s made a massive comeback world-wide. I think the larger pattern and fit of Alex’s shirt really work with this ensemble.

I like this: the traditional elements are nice to see for a change..

He was wearing a very basic black well worn pair of leather shoes. They where very in line with the rest of the outfit.

Interesting you say that. I was going to mention something in the writeup, but didn’t because I think he carries the wilder hair/beard really well. It adds to the look well I think.
