The Bookery on Signal Hill is closing, but not for lack of business. “I’ve had the business up for sale, and it’s a great little business, it does really well, but it hasn’t sold,” says owner and operator Russell Floren. “So now the building is for sale and I’m liquidating the store.”
He’s doing all this because he’s got other fish to fry. “I want to do other things,” he says. “I have another business where I’m developing phone application tours. You could go to, say, Venice and download my phone app and it would give you this quirky tour of Venice.”
The Bookery will be open on Friday, December 2nd, and Saturday, December 3rd, and all the books in the store will be on sale. Then, on the 10th, whatever is left will be auctioned off at the Wesley United Church, at 101 Patrick Street.
“There’ll be shelving, fixtures, kitchen items, antiques, all the coffee and tea, the books—tons of books. I’m going to put them together in lots,” he says. “Everything in the store.”
The viewing for the auction is at 8am and the auction itself begins at 10am.
