Amazing wings! Huge! Tex mex style is the best. I have eaten here numerous times during lunch and I always get fast friendly service. Too fast at times, we don’t even have time to chat and have a drink. The wings come out steaming hot and I always have to let them cool.

This is the best place to go on a weekday if you only have an hour for lunch.

The management at Dougie’s could teach a thing or two, to the other restaurants in St. John’s.

Gotta check this place out! :)

Best wings in town and awesome home-fries! The fact that it’s got a NASCAR theme is a big plus too! Service is always goo, as well.

I”ll give credit where credit is due. The food at Dougie’s was actually very good. The portions were surprisenly very large and the prices very low. Don’t ask me how they can survive on such low prices — but hey whatever.

The food was great, the room on the hand is another story. Wow is this place old and dirty -and in need of a serious makeover.Their menus are old tattered pieces of paper ( I mean come on, get a real menu!)

It seems to me, they are definately more geared to the bar scene, than the restaurant scene, simply because there were a number of loud drunks hanging around and making it very uncomfortable to enjoy to a dinner. There was only one staff on, and she was so flustered that service was almost non-existant ( the cook had to bring out our food, before it got too cold)

In the future, I’ll get my food for takeout. Just not a nice scene inside at all. But the food was good.

Love the food, love love the pub grub style menu and the prices are great for people looking to get out on a Friday ngiht with friends without spending a fortune. I have tried everything from their nachos to their stir fry, breakfasts and home made mac n cheese and found it all to taste great.

Staff are super friendly and promt with service. Always have had drinks arrive quick to the table and plates cleared away within a good time frame after the meal.

Decor: This is the one major downfall for Dougies. The floors are covered in sticky old greemish carpet that needs to be taken up and the slot machines are an eye sore. The bathrooms could also use an update as they are the same that were there when it used to be a Pizza Experts years ago.

All n all, decor aside, Id go there agian and again cause I know Im going to get a good feed of food with friends.

2 stars. The food is very good , don’t expect fine dining, but for Pub-style food (burgers, wings, fish, ribs , etc) it is very good.

The decor on the other hand is riduculous. This place is ROTTEN DIRTY AND OLD. It still has the same booths, carpet, bathrooms left over from Pizza Experts ( which shut down like 15 years ago!!!) Just look at the Tv’s when you go in. Buy some flat screens for god sakes !

I agree with the above posting — get your food to go.

Who wants to look at VLT machines as soon as you enter a restaurant??? Move them to some corner out of the way of the Front door. Wake up, and run your business like it should be operated, and stop relying on the poor gambler to pay your bills. It makes me wonder, if the Vlts were removed from here (and numerous other “restaurants”)— would they actually survive off their food sales. My guess is I doubt it.

just left dougie all you can eat… will NEVER go back. I\’ve eaten wing in every province, and have won wing competions. The wings we had there where burn and dry. Also service was awful, we would have to wait 30 minute each time for are server to check on us. Not once in the hour and half i was there i did the server ask how the meal was or even offer us a drink refil. Really come on its wing you will want to have some liqued. If you go here be prepared for long waits on your food and to have to ask for every little thing u need. Everytime i needed something i would have to ask 3 to 4 times, to get it rediculas. To state it 1 more time I WILL NEVER EAT AT DOUGIES AGAIN…

It’s Dougie’s BAR & Grill, not Dougie’s Restaurant… if you didn’t want to eat in a bar you shouldn’t have gone to one!!

  9. Hotdogs · January 27, 2012

Perhaps you should do without some of those “Wings competitions” and try your luck at some Spelling Bee’s… Seriously. I think I lost IQ points from reading that.

I, personally, have never had any problems with the service at Douggies. All You Can Eat Wings or not, I have had great service when I had gone. My food was never burned or my order wrong. It was always just right. Honestly, I don’t eat the wings there. I like the burgers. The food was always good. The decor, on the other hand, was lacking. As other people had said previously; it is very outdated. However, I’m not going there for decorating tips, I’m going to eat and have fun.

Maybe the lousy decor is the reason they can afford to give such good prices. I would rather get cheap food and have the decor lacking than have the place look like boston pizza and charge the same.

My husband and I eat here once a week. We work in Mt. Pearl and this is the perfect place to take an hour break. The staff know us by this point and are wonderful, friendly, quick top serve…no complaints on service at all. The food is always good. I have tried a number of items on their menu, and have yet to be disappointed. The portions are really big. I can never actually finish a meal. Sometimes my husband and I share one! Not because we’re cheap, but just because they’re that big depending on what you order! The prices are fantastic. Not overpriced at all. To be honest a lunch there wouldn’t cost you much more than if you were to go to McDonalds, and the food is obviously far better! The decor is lacking, and it’s a bit dingy in there, but it’s a bar and grill. For those stating it’s not fine dining, I believe you’re stating the obvious. What fine dining restaurant is out there that has “bar and grill” in their business name? If you don’t like pub food, or that scene, it’s probably not the place for you, but for those of us looking for quality food at great prices with fantastic service, it’s the place to go.

Five stars. I LOVE this place! Best food I’ve ever had. So what if the decor is outdated? Some people like retro.

  13. gambit · January 27, 2012

Really good food, and so cheap. 7.95 for a yummy breakfast? Yes, please. The server was really nice, attentive, and friendly when I was there. The decor is..well, a bar. But whatever. Will go back.

  14. Rusty · January 27, 2012

Went to Dougie’s for the first time recently, also the last. Sure the place was outdated but I don’t care about that. The service was fine, aside from the overuse of perfume by the server. The food was awful. I ordered fish and chips, the missus ordered breakfast. The amount of salt used for the meals was near comical. The fries were cooked in oil that obviously hadn’t been changed in a very long time. Eggs and toast were cold. Guess I should have known when the place was empty at 5:30 that nothing good was going to come from this.
