This place is amazing…my tastebuds were astounded. Definitely worth every penney, including a great tip for the excellent service! I can’t wait to go again!
My evening dinner at Atlantica was superb. I was first greeted by a friendly hostess and then led to my table by a window with an astounding view. I was then promptly visited by my waitress who was very friendly and accommodating. Shortly after I received my drink and delicious homemade bread and butter I was brought a spring salad, compliments of the chef. It was only a small taste but it was fantastic;white and green asparagus with orange cream, red monkish caviar and fresh Parmesan cheese. After I had finished this, my appetizer arrived;shaved cold maple smoked duck breast. Thick pieces of duck with double cream Brie, orange fillet, chipped parsnip, beet sap, white truffle oil and micro herbs. It was tantalizing to my taste buds with all of the flavors complimenting each other. Then, my entrée, a rib-eye with haircot vert, gratin dauphinoise and a red wine jus. The entrée tasted wonderful, but my steak, done medium-well I found to be way too big and thick, which in turn caused it to be a bit tough. That, combined with the high price of my entrée- $42 is where the one star came off. I finished my meal at Atlantica with their handmade chocolate truffles. They were- as expected delightful, not too sweet but not too bitter.
While you indulge in the great food at Atlantica you can also enjoy the spectacular view, this makes it a terrific night to remember. The service was very friendly, professional and prompt, the atmosphere was relaxing yet sophisticated and of course, the food was exquisite. It is definitely worth your while going, even if it’s your one big splurge. I cannot wait to go back to Atlantica again.
Atlantica is not only a meal, it is a night out in itself. The service is excellent, something which you find randomly about town. The view is spectacular from the dining room. The food is delectable and expertly prepared. It is pricey but well worth it.
The only way I would improve this experience would be with more private seating. The main dining room is large and open and it is a little loud and lacking in cozy ambience.
Incredible…..and the place was only half full. If anyone thinks that Atlantica isn’t as good since Chef Jeremy Charles left, they should look again. New Chef Stephen Vardy lives up to his rave reviews. The two of us went for the 6 Course Chef’s choice with wine parings and it was one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed, not to mention the incredible view of the bay and Bell Island. Every course was ambitious, daring, colorful and delicious, and the wine parings were perfect. Service was attentive and professional without being obtrusive. If you haven’t been to Atlantica in a while and are wondering if it still lives up to its reputation….it does, and it’s gotten better. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and head over soon before everyone else rediscovers this gem.
Back at Atlantica last week for the first time in a while, and they haven\’t missed a beat. Food was great, service exceptional. Thanks for another great night.
Jeremy has left, but standards have not slipped. Had the six-course tasting menu the other night, and it was a fine experience at every level. Superlative.
Went last night with a friend to mark an occasion, and the meal was perfectly memorable. We also had the 6-course tasting menu, and I think it was probably one of those meals we’ll remember years down the road. Delicious food, very very good service. Also, very expensive, but worth every single penny. What a blast.
Definitely one of, if not the very best meal both of us ever had. We were celebrating and the staff at Atlantica really went out of their way to make it special, adding in a few extras and upgrades that made our night perfect. Food was outstanding – every single bite was perfect. Definitely recommend the “Kitchen’s Choice” appetizer – this is a secret dish that changes every day but I’m told it’s always a big hit. Mine was no exception to this. The bread was the best we’ve ever had. Service was very attentive and professional, not condescending (an issue I’ve encountered at other highly rated places in town), and not intrusive. I can’t recommend Atlantica highly enough!
Ate at the Atlantica Restaurant last night and i have to say it was very divine. Great Staff, took our jackets as we entered and the waiter was really tending on us. there was no scollops on the menu for an appetizer, but they chef whipped me up the best scollop appetizer ever ! The 8oz Tenderloin was very unique and juicy … I was too full for desert even though it was not big portions.
Everything was great and I HIGHLY recommend this place. See you next year !
Overall, Atlantica’s price point was a bit high for what it delivered.
Service:
- We had to wait outside the restaurant upon arriving as the hostess wasn’t present
- Dining room was extremely cold; one patron at another table left to get a coat part way through his meal (in July)
- We were asked to move tables due to being seated the wrong place, with no compensation given
- Several place settings had no napkins
- Some of the chairs were hard/uncomfortable
- Server did not ask if we wanted coffee or tea until after we had eaten dessert
Food:
- Several main courses were noticeably over-salted
- Very tiny amount of sauces/coulis with desserts (literally only 2 or 3 drops – which was a shame as they were good and more would have really brought out the flavour of the desserts)
I truly don’t mean to nitpick as overall the meal was good, but as Atlantica is reputed to be among the top restaurants in the province and is often compared to (and similarly priced as) places like Raymond’s, I had hoped to experience a higher standard of quality.

The view is phenomenal, and the food is excellent, especially the cheese. EnRoute magazine, you did not steer me wrong.

agreed! It’s still an incredible place to eat. Chef Vardy made the most delightful meal and wine paring my tastebuds have ever had.

Certainly a fine meal, but not the same restaurant as years ago when we eat here
