These guys have the best fries in the world.
My girlfriend hates them, but I think they’re da bomb.
I like that they have signs that advertise TEENS.
If only the roller skates and drive-in was still on the go. DAMN what a place it used to be. Why did they get rid of those?? I want a root beer so bad right now.
Breakfast is also pretty good at A&W. One location even passes out sinlge red roses on Mother’s Day to all the females!
Good food, but a bit pricey. The Uncle Burger is the way to go, skip the fries and get onion rings, then top it off with a root beer float.
I had a grilled chicken burger and fries there at the village Mall location and I thought it was poorly put together. I asked for cheese, they forgot the cheese. They put hardly any mayo on it. Not even a tbsp of mayo. Plus the chicken was pretty bland. I’d much rather Chicken Ciabatta from McDonalds.
Won’t buy from there again.
I could live off the onion rings alone. I wouldn’t live that long mind you, but it would be tasty while it lasted.
Not too bad overall. Well, it’s not as good as it used to be in the old days of when you would turn on your headlights to be served at the drive-in. Yeah, that tells my age group doesn’t it, ooops. The breakfast is reasonable for the price and there are refills on the coffee which is nice to sip a second cup after and read a paper. The Uncle Burger is not bad as well. We drop bye here every so often. There were a few times that the food was barely warm, but the shift manager was more then obliging to replace this for freshly done hot food. Also, a few times during the cooler times of the year I think they forgot to turn on some heat, truly it was so cold inside there we had to leave. The root beer seems to be the same as it always was, and mostly served in a nice frosty mug. They should bring back the onion rings they had years ago, oh man, they were absolutely fabulous old fashioned tasty homemade style onion rings. This is way ahead of the golden arches.
Overpriced bland food. The fries aren’t fit to eat. The restaurant is usually dirty. The service is slow. 0 stars.
About those onion rings. Yes, I too, wish they’d bring back the old style, battered onion rings. They were incredibly good. The current breaded variety they serve doesn’t come close. The change was made back in the late eighties I think when all this heart-smart crap got rolling. You know – when they had to change the name of Kentucky Fried Chicken to KFC so people wouldn’t be reminded they were eating something fried. For God’s sake! It’s a fast food joint! It’s incredible that people are stupid enough to think that changing from batter to breading on a (still deep-fried) fast food onion ring could possibly make a difference in their health! What in the world is the matter with everyone these days?!? C’mon A&W, bring back those scrumptious, crispy, greasebombs – do something to make us old farts happy for once!! How’s this for an idea? Bring them back during select times of the year! Like McDs does with some of their stuff – limited time only and all that… Surely that wouldn’t send us all pounding our chests and gasping for air to the emergency room would it??
As for an overall review, I think A&W is the best fast food around.
Great breakfast and tasty burgers with the exceptions of the chicken ones. The fries are nasty McCain style garbage but the onion rings are good. I noticed several older folk mentioning that they were much better in the 80’s and earlier. I missed out!
Pretty much every food stand in both the Village and Avalon Mall’s sucks. You’re setting yourself up for disappointment by getting anything to eat there. Go to any free standing A and W location for good food, as long as you get the burgers, their chicken is just bland and that’s it. :P
No way, their onion rings are the top of the pops! Also a fan of the occasional Bacon ‘n’ Egger. Pretty good coffee too, actually.
The Kenmount Road location is the absolute worst! My office ordered from there today and the drinks were gross (not what we ordered either). The onion rings – the only reason we went there – were falling apart, greasy and there was only two that I could eat! They were the thin part of the onion that I throw away. Vile! Also, my burger was burned and dry.
Absolutely disappointing for that much money. No problem at allwith other locations, but this one is to be avoided at all costs!
Previously, I returned my entire order when they couldn’t make a Vanilla milkshake (had Strawberry, overloaded with flavouring) and my onion rings were one lump of cold, crumbling slime.
Never, ever again! If I could leave no stars I would.
I always go to the Avalon Mall location, which can be slow. But their burgers and fries are consistently good, way better than McD’s. As far as fast food goes, it is kinda pricey, but I think it’s worth it. They also have the BEST onion rings, you can’t get anything like them anywhere else.
youre cheap then!
Good food mostly, but the service at the Torbay Rd. location is a joke. Very unprofessional and very slow.
Love the food! The fountain drinks always taste good and care is taken when making the burgers. The food isn’t slapped together like many other fast food places.
The Scope is no more! Thanks for seven amazing years.
