Narrows – s/t (2007) (local)

In a local rock scene that’s so often smattered with cliché’s, Narrows are (or were) a breath of fresh air, and a band I went to see no matter who else was on the bill. Their music is unconventional, yet approachable; virtuosic and yet catchy. It’s a shame they only lasted for a few months, because something this heavy and brilliant hasn’t been seen in ages. From the borderline prog-metal of Uninverse, to the borderline neo-psychedelia of “Memory Lane”, Narrows are all about tripping those borders and delivering seriously robust music.
