“Stars Go Down” by Banded Stilts

Today we have a treat for all you Track of The Day faithfuls, a brand new demo from one of my favorite transplanted St. John’s groups, Banded Stilts. The band consists of Placentia natives and Human Soundtrack alumni Steve Haley (guitar/vocal/ piano), Brad Lannon (mandolin/piano/vocals) and Marc Fagan (guitar/banjo/vocals) along with Travis Hatcher (bass/vocals) and Reid Sheppard (drums/violin).

Banded Stilts released their debut EP By The Back Stair last year, which is a beautiful collection of alternative folk gems, some of which are updated versions of songs from Steve’s two previous solo albums Two Steps In The Dark (2009) and Birdsong (2010). Currently the lads are in the process of recording their first band full length album which is where today’s track is from.

Steve was home in St. John’s last summer for a handful of solo and Banded Stilts/Human Soundtrack reunion shows, and he’s decided to come home again this summer for more solo performances, starting this Saturday night (August 11th) at The Ship, with Liz Solo, Neil Conway and Colleen Power Band. You can also catch him August 24th at The Ship with The Connexions and The Long Distance Runners. In the meantime enjoy today’s fresh new Banded Stilts track.
