“Goodnight Avalon” by Georgie & JoMo

Oct 9, 2012

Random Act of Kindness Fundraiser will take place this Friday (Oct 12th) at The Bella Vista.

On August 5th a general feeling of shock and disgust overcame the St.John’s public as news began to spread about the vicious beating of a 16 year old boy the day before. Although the identity of the victim remains concealed due to his age, the assailant Matthew Paul King, a former member of local rap group Lakeside, was later charged and brought to court where he gained even more infamy for rapping his apology to the victim and his family. In an effort to counteract this random act of violence with positivity and kindness, a group of local musicians, artists and concerned citizens have come together to organize an event for the benefit of the victim of the attack. The event is called a Random Act of Kindness and will take place this Friday (Oct 12th) at The Bella Vista. There will be a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, stand-up comedy acts and some great music by The Daisy Cutters, RN Wagner, Midnight Heat and one of my favorite local bands Georgie & JoMo.

Today’s track “Goodnight Avalon” is from the electro-pop duo’s 2012 RPM Challenge album Mixtape.

As a ‘thank-you’ for anyone planning to attend Friday’s fundraiser, Georgie & JoMo are making all of their albums available for free download from now until Oct 12th. All proceeds from Random Act of Kindness will be given to the victim. Doors open at 8:30 PM.
