1. Ceoltóirí Chualann — Ó Riada Sa Gaiety

2. “Anything by Luke Kelly of the Dubliners”

3. Steeleye Span — Hark! The Village Wait

“[These were all] big influences on my musical starts back in the late 1960s. Ceoltóirí for the instrumental music—they were the precursors to the Chieftains—Luke Kelly for his approach to singing, and Steeleye Span for their great arrangements of old traditional material, especially their harmony singing.”

4. Ryan’s Fancy — Looking Back

“It’s hard to choose from all the good Newfoundland material that has come out over the years, but I’ll pick Looking Back by Ryan’s Fancy, as I always considered that to be the best production we did as a band.”
