Hot Ticket: You Don’t Know Cold – June 1 to August 26

"Too Numbed With Suffering," by John McDonald.

John McDonald’s paintings capture the peculiar light of Newfoundland perfectly—that eerie, what-season-is-this-again quality that the fresh air lends the sunshine when it pokes through the fog. His new exhibition, named You Don’t Know Cold, applies the same keen sense of atmosphere to a series of paintings inspired by his relatives James and Stephen Donovan’s role in the Great Sealing Disaster of 1914. The opening reception starts at 7:30 pm at The Rooms. The exhibit runs until August 26.
