Hot Ticket: Sherry Ryan, December 10

Sherry Ryan’s distinctive voice—channeling the spirits of country singers Patsy Cline and Kitty Wells—is back with a brand new full-length album Sister of Mine, and it’s a rich combination of genres. Ryan says she has really put herself out there on this album. Leaving the emotions raw, and supported by layers of strings and horns and her debut piano recordings. Her album launch show, with performances by Sandy May and Peter Willie Youngtree, a guest appearance by Halifax’s Phil Sedore, and The Enablers backing it all up, it won’t be a show to miss. Tickets are $17.50 and can be purchased at the LSPU Hall 753-4531.

Great show last night. Peter Willie Youngtree was a great opening act, with a surprise breakout performance by Sherry’s cousin Craig Ryan, who acted as MC but also played a couple of tunes. Quite a showman. Sherry’s music was the highlight of the evening, of course, backed by a stellar band in support.
