Witloof Bay sounds like a bar band from the Southern Shore, but actually they’re a world-class choral group from Belgium. Witloof’s take on choral music is tight and deft, complete with sick midstream key changes, and it strays to modern-age acapella trappings like beatboxing and whimsical covers of 80s hits like “The Eye of The Tiger”. Their performing skills led them to represent Belgium in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest (pretty much the campy, Euro-version of the Superbowl. It launched ABBA.) Witloof Bay are in town in July as part of Festival 500. They’re playing the Arts & Culture Centre July 7th. Tickets are $40, and $32 for students and seniors.
