The ‘We’en Issue

Jeremy Bourque—looking badass in his 1986 human fly costume—is the star of our cover this week. To this day, both his mom and dad—Lynn and Bruce—are proud of the costume, which they completed sometime between 4 and 5 am on the big day.

The wings, constructed by Bruce, were made out of coat hanger wire covered in sheer curtains and finished with magic marker. The head and eyes, also by Bruce, were made using a hockey helmet and a styrofoam egg sawed in half. The egg was indented carefully using the cover of a pen and outlined with marker.

Finally, the whole thing was covered in brown material to match the body of the costume, which was made by Lynn.

Mirror plowed
