You have Toronto photographer Ivan Otis to thank for this issue’s cover shot of the unpredictable singer-songwriter Hawksley Workman.
Familiar with celebrities of all shapes and sorts, Otis says Hawksley has been one of his favourites to shoot over the years.
“We spend as much time talking about hearts that have been broken, drinking wine and sharing philosophies and eating good food as we do, actually shooting,” he says. “This is true Hawksley: complex, genuine, and down to earth.”
Describing Hawksley as “an artist in every sense,” Otis says he always brings extra and unexpected things into a photo shoot. Like a Bauhaus t-shirt.
“It was well worn in and is probably one of his favorites,” he says, “though I didn’t ask.”
