Do they make the grade?

The only thing Jonathan Adams has to fear about being bad at drawing is his fear of being bad at drawing.

This issue, Jon was given the task of wrestling the entire crew of St. John’s City councillors onto a single illustrated page. And how was it? Painful, he says.

“I’ve never properly learned to draw which means the first step when I take on an illustration is always surmounting the problem of absence of any real skill on my part.”

“But once I figured out through mindless doodling that Dennis O’Keefe kind of looks like Robert Crumb’s Flakey Foont I tried to do everyone in a sort of ersatz Crumb style.”

“Now that I’m looking at it again I notice Keith Coombs almost approximates Mr. Natural,” he says.
