In taking my first bite of this tasty sausage on a delicious bun, I was 110% satisfied! Seriously, one of the best sausages (at least 1/2 lb.) I have ever tasted. We enjoy supporting the small business guys, especially when they are able to provide such a delicious product :)
Thanks for the experience, we'll look forward to purchasing your awesome product next time we come to St. John's.

I would NOT recommend the Chop House to anyone based on my personal experience. My partner and I ate there May 15th, 2013. We arrived at 8pm and placed our order shortly thereafter. There were only 12 other people dining upstairs (one table of 8 and a table of 4) and an abundance of waitstaff. After an hour of sitting and waiting, the young girl serving us came over and apologized that we had not received our bread as she allegedly asked one of her colleagues to bring it over to us. She apologized again and brought out what tasted like stale, store- bought bread and a small plate of plain, uninteresting butter. Approximately 15 minutes after that she came back and told us that their internet was down and due to that our order was missed and now delayed. As compensation (?) the chef was sending out a baked goat cheese appetizer which, although it was MORE bread, was surprisingly good (hence the one star). Anyway, when our steaks finally arrived they looked like mangled hunks of beef and my partners was severely overcooked. We didn't send it back because by this time we had already been there two hours. The "frites" they served were unimpressive french fries and a small side of veggies. The young server never once asked how our meal was or came back to check on us (we got the impression that she was embarrassed enough on behalf of the restaurant). Not once did she refill our water glasses. DEFINITELY not worth what we paid for the meal. The prices are too high and The Chop House needs to get over itself if it wants to stay afloat in St. John's. There are plenty of better places to spend $100+ on a meal for two. Very disappointing.

My wife and I had an amazing anniversary dinner tonight and the Reluctant Chef was fantastic. A truly unique experience with a great atmosphere, some really impressive food and the wine pairings were perfect. The nicest lamb I have ever had.

Plan your time and enjoy this great experience, we WILL be back!

Renee, you should really check out all your facts before posting. You may have spoken to a girl at Raymonds but she wasn't the manager, as there is no female manager at Raymonds. And by the tone of your post maybe she was coming across as rude to you because you were acting rude or unreasonable with her to begin with.

Dear Ken, Are you sure you went to the right pizza place !!!! I have been a customer since day one . I order pizza there every week and yet to have a complaint , always fresh food and very friendly service!!! As for saying that the mushrooms were thicker than the crust I say it's because it was freshly rolled out and didn't have time to rise. As for the topping its always plenty on the pizza , if you add to much it never cooks right !!! My opinion I think you should give it another try , yes you maybe be able to go somewhere else and get a pizza at a cheaper price with at pop but its not as good as pizza express ( trust me been there done that )

I ordered two Jumbo Pizza's (16.99ea and no pop drink included) and the lady taking my pickup order didn't mention there was a special on for XL 12.99. One had ham, bacon, cheese (for the picky kids); and the other was pep, bacon, italian sausage, pineapple and mushrooms. I picked up the pizzas and I got this sinking gut feeling when I lifted the two boxes and they felt empty. Except I was there to see them sliced and put in the box I would have stopped and checked. There were canned sliced mushrooms on my pizza and I kid you not that the mushrooms were thicker than the crust. Except for the pepperoni the other meats must have been powdered meats as you couldn't see them. There was maybe one or two pieces of mushroom or pineapple per slice (and I am not exaggerating). I usually order from another place further away which is 12.99 (including a 2litre pop) and 10.99 for each additional jumbo pizza (cheaper but definitely more substantive). This place was more convenient and I hadn't tried them in a few years and said 'what the heck; pizza is pizza'. It will be a few years before I forget this experience and MAYBE try them again. Hope they take this review to heart and improve their food. I'ld rather support these local places than go to the name-brand places.

This is by far the best Fine Dinning in the city.... I was walking Downtown when I came across Raymonds. I had heard lots of good things about the place and I often read reviews online of different restaurant's in the city. I did not have a reservation I just walked in and after a minute of checking they sat me at two top. I order a bottle of wine had an appetizer(cant remember the proper name but it was a pasta and crab dish.) For my main I order the Beef wellington. It was possibly the best Main course dish I have ever order!( I have worked at 4 star hotels and worked in 4 diamond restaurants where breakfast for 4 would cost an average of 200 dollars!)
Now the food was of the charts but believe it or not the service was even better, I never once had to ask for anything or even try to pour my own wine. Everything I order came out Hot and a detail description of what it was as it was placed in front of me. I have eaten at just about every spot downtown as I do live down here and by far the best
in the city..............
For the comment made by Renne
Your message makes you sound like a stuck up concierge( I want to speak to the presidents president is what you sound like.) You put total blame on the restaurant for your error. You say you were treated rudely or was it you were getting good service but not hearing the answers you wanted to hear? Errors can happen as I am sure you can attest working at a hotel and especially communicating online!(Pick up a phone and call..gezz there is one right in front of you!)
You say you will never recommend this restaurant to anybody, well that will be your hotel's lost. My question is, Have you ever been to Raymonds or do you usually eat the leftovers at the buffet at your hotel?

I actually had a dealing with the manager on the phone and she was extrememly rude. I had booked a reservation online for someone and she seemed to know the ladies name but said she couldnt find the reservation online that it was lost which of course made no sense. The cumstomer was not a guest at my hotel and had walked away so there was no way of me letter her know the situation. I informed the mamager of this and she said well theres nothing she can do for me ??? I asked to speak to a Boss higher than her and she said it didnt matter because they would say the same thing she said. I was blown away. I then wrote a letter to them online stating what had happened and got no response. I am still taken back by it all and i would never send anyone there ever in my life and i actually work at a very populr hotel in the city on the frontdesk.
