I’ve always been a huge fan of people who have an effortless look, people who just radiate a feeling of comfort in their own skin. Becky is one of those people. My favourite pieces of hers are the obviously well-loved cowboy boots, the detailing around the hem of her dress, and the pop of colour in her necklace.
If Becki was to travel back in time to confront her 8 year old self with some wisdom of the future: “Get back on the horse.”
This outfit is one of the most put together head-to-toe looks I’ve come across in a while. The colours! The patterns and textures! My favourite pieces here are Liane’s glasses, the necklace and the coat.
I ran into Caitlyn while she was out picketing along side her co-workers from Labatt. At first she modestly thought I was asking to take a photo of the whole gang, but I said wanted to pull her aside because of her 1980s casual Madonna look.
The high-waisted ripped jeans are what drew me in here. Even while taking these shots there was a passer-by who asked her where she got them.
I like Caitlyn’s straightforward style, and I also think I’m a sucker for a throwback outfit. If you’re out picketing on a hot summer’s evening, you may as well look striking too.
Seafoam green is the most underrated colour. There, I said it.
Kristie uses the colour to great effect here. Paired with the white jeans it comes off super fresh.
I really dig the level of attention to detail that Kristie has put into her ensemble. The shirt, shoes, and nails are all coordinated, and the jewelry meshes nicely with the hardware on the purse.
I caught Britt as she was just getting off work and I really like the way she carried herself as she walked towards me. It was the shady side of the street and her hyper-red lipstick really jumped out, especially with the subdued palette she was wearing.
Another thing that caught my eye where these chunky sneaker ankle boot dealies. You’ve got to love a few buckles and studs every now and again…
As we pull in a little closer, it’s nice to see how the vibrancy of the lipstick works with the subtle rosy tone in Britt’s oversized shades.
Remember Rodger & Theresa from back in 2011? it’s a few years later, and their clothing line under the Retarded Velvet monicker has been around the world and back. Theresa is actually wearing one of their own creations here. The silk print features an Indian one Rupee note like you’ve never seen before.
The colours here are just fantastic and the silk flows in the breeze in the most mesmerizing way. Theresa says that on our warm summer nights there’s a bunch of ways this can be worn.
Brittany’s wearing lots of natural fibers and a pretty bow…
… and sharp but subtle accessories.
This outfit is definitely super casual lets-all-go-find-a-sandy-beach wear.
In honour of the beautiful day we’re having, I thought I’d post a straightforward summer fresh look from Sandy.
I love the simplicity here. My favourite pieces include the HUUUGE aviators, and the broguing on her shoes.
His outfit speaks volumes without having to say much. Its a classic look, straight out of the mid-60’s that in recent years we’ve seen popping up again. It’s not often these days you run into a guy, mid-week, wearing a suit so casually — sure, you have the frumpy business men running all over town, but this is different. One of my favourite details are the sunglasses laying on the counter because, you know, he’s indoors.
Sophie’s wide striped pants paired with the heavy look of the boots and structure of her coat give a really great foundation to go with the wispiness of her hair and that fantastic flowy scarf. Her hat keeps things in check up top and provides a little pop of colour.
My favourite pieces here are the scarf, with its graphical patterning, and those massive oliver-goldsmith-style-audrey-hepburn-circa-the-movie-charade sunglasses.
Pink. I think that’s the theme here.
Ledon has a really striking presence and the two-tone palette is broken ever so slightly with the colour on her fingernails. It’s a very put-together look.
My favourite pieces here contrast each other, almost as much as the colour palette. Ledon’s glasses suit the shape of her face really nicely too. There’s a soft, almost feline quality there that lends an even sharper edge to the spiked double necklace.
Natalie was just getting off work and the sun was still bouncing around the shallow canyons of downtown. What little breeze that was in the air was soft and warm…
That may read a little like a cheesy romance novel, but it seriously was that kind of evening out, and Natalie’s outfit complimented that atmosphere nicely.
Natalie’s dress is textured and flowy, but the crisp, cute, metallic belt buckle anchoring the waist adds some really great contrast. Easing into the warmer season with subtle colours is a great strategy. The muted pallet of the brown leather purse, boots and the dusty rose shade of the cardigan really help maintain the softness of the look.
The last time we met up with Jeremy was just over a year ago. Since then he’s has been living in TO, but I caught him again while he was in town on business.
I find this revisit so interesting because almost exactly one year later, Jeremy is wearing a very similar outfit, but he’s wearing it differently. It feels less formal, there’s more of a swagger in the way the pieces come across. His cherry Doc Martens are showing a bit more wear, but they suit the style quite well.
The addition of the large headphones and a ball cap really help with the casual nature of this look. It just goes to show that the overall feel of a look can be changed by adding a few pieces or the way you carry yourself.
I believe this is the very first StitchUp I’ve done in a grocery.
I was picking up a few things last week when I spotted Stephanie and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask her for her photo. The contrast of the slick outfit and the location was a compelling image.
Subtlety is working in Stephanie’s favour here. Her whole outfit has a classic feel, and the monochrome majority is broken up with a few pops of colour. My favourite parts of this ensemble are the clutch with the oversized zip pull and the poppy shoes.
I don’t know if it’s the influx of Lawnya Vawnya visitors or because the sun was out yesterday, but downtown there was some of the best people watching I’ve seen here in months.
On my evening stroll, I noticed Susan and her friend chatting and walking; the warm light bouncing around and her fantastic yellow coat fit the evening perfectly.
My favourite detail is the twill skirt, as well as the strappy flats on Susan’s feet.
