Local artist, friendly dude, and cycling enthusiast (often all at the same time) Michael Flaherty is back in town from his summer-long stint on the Grey Islands.
Which means he is ready to help you fix your bicycle again.
MUN BikeShare is hosting a slew of workshops over the next while, and Flaherty will be teaching several of them, including workshops on bike maintenance for beginners and the more advanced, and on studding your tires for winter riding.
There is also a repair shop at 1015-E in the MUN Engineering Building, open to all, every Wednesday from 5pm to 9pm.
Sure, there are other excellent instructors and volunteers, but the two reasons I’m singling Flaherty out are…
A) He has this amazing photo of himself that we have to use every chance we get, and…
B) He has been living on the Grey Islands this summer as part of an interdisciplinary ceramic art project, which was listed among Craig Francis Power’s 25 Greatest Works of Art Ever Made in Newfoundland and Labrador a few issues ago. But more on that project from us later.

As a side note, is there a rule somewhere that says ceramicists have to be friendly people or they’re not allowed to be ceramicists?
I mean, Jay Kimball and Michael Flaherty? Are they competing or something??
